The violent attack that happened at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) after a group of masked men and women beat up students and teachers, the entire country is in rage. Several protests are being staged and many celebs have made their displeasure evident and some others have even partaken in the protests to raise their voices.
When we spoke to Bhangra Paa Le actress Rukshar Dhillon, we asked her take on the horrifying attack. The actress said, “I feel what has happened is extremely unfortunate. It's not the kind of environment where me, my parents or grandparents were brought up in. We really have moved forward in terms of infrastructure, education; we have expanded and grown so much as a country. To come down to something like this, is really heartbreaking.
And, I can't even comment on the pain because I don't know what I would have done had I been in college and this had happened to me. That's the age where we are just exploring life and it's very unfortunate and wrong. I'm sure there are a lot of people voicing their opinions. I think after what has happened, everyone will be in enraged and in anger.”
Then, she goes about explaining the positive aspect, as she says “The good side of it is, when you see everyone come together irrespective of any profession, fighting against this. To cite examples of Swara Bhasker or Deepika Padukone, the fact that they are standing as one and fighting against this is something we need to look at. Because that actually executes so much power that we have. So that's something that's really admirable. And I hope justice is prevailed soon.”
Speaking of Rukshar's debut film Bhangra Paa Le, it didn't set the cash registers ringing but the actress' performance impressed us. In case you haven't read our review, we reproduce it for you above.
