Rapper Badshah received a summons for questioning from the Maharashtra Cyber Cell in Mumbai on Monday, October 30. The investigation pertains to a case of digital piracy, and Badshah's involvement is under scrutiny. The singer-rapper was summoned in connection with the promotion of Fairplay App, which is a subsidiary of the Mahadev app. Preliminary reports suggest that Fairplay App had broadcast the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, and Viacom 18 had lodged a complaint against the app, leading to the investigation. The broadcasting rights for IPL 2023 were held by Viacom 18, but Fairplay concurrently streamed the cricket tournament from March 2023 to May 2023. In response to a complaint filed by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell, a case of digital piracy was registered, and Badshah was summoned for his endorsement of the Fairplay app. Multiple videos of the rapper endorsing the app have also emerged on social media platforms. Badshah had personally posted the videos on his verified social media profiles. Nevertheless, as of now, the rapper has not responded to the summons. It's worth noting that more than 40 celebrities have endorsed the app, including individuals like Kiara Advani, Ranbir Kapoor, Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal, and Mithali Raj.
