In Bollywood, actresses are often pitted against each other. Up until a few years ago, the common notion was that no two actresses can be friends. There have been incidents when actresses had disagreed to be a part of a project due to another actress being in it. Juhi Chawla had publicly admitted that she rejected Dil To Pagal Hai because she didn’t want to be a second lead to Madhuri Dixit. And even in films where two actresses worked together, there were reports of clashes, like Raveena Tandon had accepted that she and Karisma weren’t close on the sets of Andaz Apna Apna.
However, over the years, many of our actresses have tried to shatter this notion. Especially in the Gen-Z, almost all actors and actresses have come out publicly to support each other. Even the apprehension of being a part of two-heroine project has gone down, and leading that pack is the Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandez. In the past also, Jacqueline has been a part of huge ensembles in films like Housefull 2 and 3 or Race 3, but in her present line up, she has five films with two actresses in them. Let’s have a look:
Bachchan Pandey
In December last year, Jacqueline was the second actress to be announced to be a part of Akshay Kumar’s Bachchan Pandey. The film, also featuring Arshad Warsi, already had Kriti Sanon in the lead. The film began shoot in January this year in Jaisalmer; however, Jacqueline joined the team in February and she even took a four-week training in tightrope walking for her role in the film.
Ram Setu
Another Akshay Kumar film and another collaboration for Jacqueline with the actor in a two-heroine film. With just one change, that instead of Kriti in Bachchan Pandey, here it is Nushrratt Bharuccha. The trio of Akshay-Jacqueline-Nushrratt headed to Ayodhya for the muhurat shot of the film in mid-March and the film’s first schedule kicked off in Mumbai on March 30. But it was soon halted due to Akshay testing Covid-19 positive, followed by a few crew members.
Bhoot Police
Saif Ali Khan’s horror-comedy Bhoot Police went under a major casting change last year. Earlier announced with Saif, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the lead, the cast went under a full revamp with only Saif remaining from the original cast. He was joined by Jacqueline, Yami Gautam and Arjun Kapoor. The film commenced shoot in November 2020 in Dharamshala and after much contemplation, recently producer Ramesh Taurani confirmed that it is going to release on OTT.
Cirkus
After wrapping up the first schedule of Bhoot Police, Jacqueline moved on to shoot for Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus, where she collaborates with Ranveer Singh for the first time. The film also stars Pooja Hegde and Varun Sharma in the lead and is reportedly based on Shakespeare’s Comedy Of Errors. The film, that will reportedly see Ranveer and Varun in double roles, went on floors in November last year and is reportedly eyeing a New Year’s Eve release on December 31, 2021.
Attack
Attack was the first film to be announced amongst these five films of Jacqueline and sees Jacqueline reunite with her Dishoom co-star John Abraham along with Rakul Preet Singh. The shoot of the film was put on hold in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and then resumed this year in February when John was spotted in Gurgaon shooting for the film on a bike.
