The Baahubali franchise starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Ramya Krishnan, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia, became a huge success countrywide on its release and that success led to the announcement of a prequel series for the show on Netflix. However, the show has undergone numerous challenges with multiple recasting, change in directors and scraping off of already shot material. However, Spotboye.com has now learnt that the show is set to go on floors soon again.

A source close to the development informs, “The show is set to go on floors in October in Mumbai. Since currently the monsoon season is on, the set construction in Mumbai will start in September and the team will start shooting the following month.” The source adds that most of the cast is finalised but two major characters are yet to be cast.

The revamped prequel series will star Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead role of Sivagami. The actress has worked in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Punjabi and Hindi industries and was recently seen in the Disney+ Hotstar show Grahan. About a month ago, TV actor Dheeraj Dhoopar was also reported to have been signed on to the series for an important role.

When the first film in the Baahubali franchise, Baahubali: The Beginning, released in 2015, it took the whole country by storm. Even being a Telugu film, it garnered immense success all over India that it became a pan-India film. The film set several box-office records which were later on broken by the second film of the franchise, Baahubali: The Conclusion, the following year.
