Bala makers are in trouble. It all began with their film’s concept being similar to that of Abhishek Pathak’s Ujda Chaman that stars Sunny Singh in the lead. Both films are based on premature balding and their posters too bear resemblance.

To add to the woes of Kumar Mangat (producer of Ujda Chaman), the makers of the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer rescheduled their film’s release date from Nov 15 to Nov 7, a move to ensure their product makes it to the cinema halls before Ujda Chaman which releases on Nov 8. This irked Mangat no end and he exclusively told us last evening that he would drag Dinesh Vijan (producer of Bala) to court for shifting his film’s release date to clash with him. "They should not have brought their film on the same date as mine,” he had vented.

True to his word, Mangat headed to Bombay High Court this morning and filed a case against the makers of Bala (backed by Jio Studios). The case has been admitted. The first hearing is slated for tomorrow (Oct 17). Both parties need to be present in court or represented by their respective lawyers.

Mangat also feels that Bala is a copyright violation which he sees as many scenes similar to the ones in his product and also an idea lifted from writer Kamal Kant's concept, who also had raised his voice- not too long ago - against Bala by filing a case against Vijan and Ayushmann.

Ujda Chaman is an official remake of the Kannada hit Ondu Motteya Kathe. Daggers are drawn. Let’s sit back and see who wins the war.

Mangat, Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande (Media President Of Reliance Industries Ltd) chose to not respond on the impending court fight.
