News of talented actor Asif Basra's suicide has shocked everyone. Asif, who has acted in films like Kai Po Che and Hichki, was found dead at his Dharmshala residence. As per reports, Asif was living in a rented apartment in McLeodganj for the last 5 years. The reason behind the drastic step is not known yet, however, SP of Kangra has confirmed the news.

Asif was reportedly suffering from depression. It is being said that Asif was living with a woman from the UK in that rented apartment. This morning, Asif had reportedly taken his pet dog out, and soon after he came back home, he hung himself with his dog belt. The initial investigation revealed that he was a victim of depression.

Now, talking to us exclusively, his co-star from the film, The 26/11 Attacks, Sanjeev Jaiswal expressed his shock at his demise. The actor who essayed the central character of terrorist Kasab in the film told us, "I am very sad to hear that a talented actor like him is no more with us. May his soul rest in peace."

Sanjeev recalls his last meeting with the actor which took place apparently one and half year back, "My last meeting with Asif Basra sir was in Aram Nagar, Andheri. I went there to meet a casting director while he was standing there and talking to an actor. I went to him and asked him, sir have you recognized me ? I am Sanjeev Jaiswal, I played Kasab's character in The attacks of 26/11 movie, he recognized me. The actor also recalls his first meeting with Asif on the sets of their film, "I still remember my first meeting with him which was on the set of the 26/11 movie. He played a taxi driver role and inside the taxi we were having a conversation between us and that scene was very important for the movie because Kasab was a muslim guy and Asif sir also played the character of a muslim guy but later on Kasab killed him too. Just to show that terrorism has no religion."
