Last year, Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was granted bail three weeks after his arrest in the drugs-on-cruise case. In May this year, the star kid was given a clean chit by the Narcotics Control Bureau in the October 2 Cordellia drugs bust case. Now as per the latest reports, the NCB vigilance committee has found irregularities and lapses against seven to eight Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials, including a senior officer in the investigation into the drugs-on-cruise case, involving Aryan.
The inquiry also found selective targeting of Aryan. Action is likely to be taken against seven to eight officers including Sameer Wankhede involved in the case. The NCB vigilance committee reportedly began its probe after allegations of illegal arrests and extortion in the drugs bust case popped up. In August, the 3,000-page inquiry report was submitted to the NCB chief, and it stated that there were lapses on the part of seven to eight officers, not just in the Aryan Khan case, but in two other cases as well. All the cases were probed by Sameer Wankhede, the then-zonal director, and his team. According to the sources, a charge sheet has been filed against the officers under various sections of the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules. The vigilance report even recommended removal from the service for at least two officers, not associated with the NCB anymore. Gyaneshwar Singh, NCB, deputy director general, said, “We have submitted the vigilance report before the competent authority.”
For the unversed, Aryan along with others was arrested in October 2021 in connection with a drugs raid conducted by the Narcotics Control Bureau. During the case, the Mumbai NCB was headed by Sameer Wankhede. He was later transferred to the DG Taxpayer Service Directorate in Chennai. His transfer came after an SIT set up by the anti-drug agency claimed the probe led by Wankhede had several lapses.
