Ayushmann Khurrana has clearly carved his niche in Bollywood, and the best way to measure this is by the actor’s popularity and box office figures of his movies. While we say so the actor has ticked off both these criteria successfully. His last release Article 15 has slowly and steadily, impressed the audience and has managed to touch the Rs 50 cr mark. The film has minted Rs 50.83 cr within thirteen days of its release. The movie released on June 28, 2019; Ayushmann plays a cop who is jolted by the harsh reality of the society being discriminated on the basis of caste, creed and religion. Inspired by true happenings in society, it has got the masses thinking about this issue.
Confirming the box figure trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Article15 crosses ₹ 50 cr mark... [Week 2] Fri 2.65 cr, Sat 4 cr, Sun 5.35 cr, Mon 2.02 cr, Tue 1.25 cr, Wed 1.35 cr [better than Tue]. Total: ₹ 50.83 cr. India biz.” With this kind of a graph which is constantly showing an upward arrow clearly states that the actor is picking right films and has understood the business of entertainment along with his acting craft.
Ayushmann’s flick has won the hearts of the audience as well as the critics. The actor has simultaneously also proved that he is all out selecting roles which are challenging as per an actor but entertaining for the audience too. Movies like Article 15 creating a wave also suggests that the masses are ready for content-driven cinema.
Just a day earlier, Taran had tweeted, “#Article15 nears half-century [₹ 50 cr] mark... Biz was hit by #INDvNZ cricket match [#CWC19] on [second] Tue... [Week 2] Fri 2.65 cr, Sat 4 cr, Sun 5.35 cr, Mon 2.02 cr, Tue 1.25 cr. Total: ₹ 49.48 cr. India biz.”
Directed by Anubhav Sinha has done an excellent job by letting his script do the talking which has left a hard-hitting impact on the viewers, especially with the dialogue #AbFarqLaayenge, which was also trending on the social media platforms.
