After appearing in 2 States with Alia Bhatt, Arjun Kapoor has signed yet another adaptation of a Chetan Bhagat novel. The actor will play a Bihari boy who struggles with the English language, while Shraddha Kapoor will essay the role of an upscale Delhi girl.
Talking to SpotboyE, Boney Kapoor's son says, "Yes, I have signed Half Girlfriend and I am looking forward to it."
The film will be helmed by Ek Villain director Mohit Suri and produced by Ekta Kapoor and Chetan Bhagat.
Half Girlfriend faced a casting crisis when Sushant Singh Rajput, Mohit's first choice, opted out of the project. Soon, Kriti Sanon who had replaced Katrina Kaif, walked out leaving the project in absolute disarray.
Says a source, "Ekta promptly contacted Arjun who gave his nod while shooting for a reality show in Argentina. Arjun has even started working on the Bihari dialect which he needs to have for his role."
Ekta and Mohit plan to put the film on floors this summer.
