Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman has found himself embroiled in controversy following his Chennai concert titled 'Marakkuma Nenjam', which faced severe criticism for mismanagement. Both Rahman and the event organizers (ACTC Events) faced backlash due to inadequate crowd control measures, resulting in a stampede-like situation where there were allegations of molestation and children being displaced. In response, both parties have pledged to provide refunds to those who were denied entry due to overcrowding. Amidst this backlash, Rahman shared a glimpse of the concert, a clip that many viewed as 'insensitive'.

Originally scheduled for August 12, AR Rahman's concert faced a last-minute cancellation due to unfavourable weather conditions. It was subsequently rescheduled for September 10 and was marketed as India's largest concert, attracting an audience of over 45,000 people. Unfortunately, the Chennai concert proved to be a distressing experience for many attendees. Complaints of harassment and inadequate crowd management prompted the Tambaram police to register a case.
