A R Rahman's 99 Songs is an ode to the timeless power of love and music. The film saw the launch of new talent, Ehan Bhat, along with Edilsy Vargas. Directed by Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy, the movie follows the journey of a young man named Jay a struggling singer who wants to be a successful music composer. The film is a beautiful story about art and self-discovery. The music maestro has also composed the original score and 15 songs for the film which is co-produced by Ideal Entertainment and distributed by Jio Studios.
The musician who marked his debut as a producer and writer with this film is thrilled to release the film on the OTT platform. He said, “I’m happy to share that 99 Songs is releasing on Jio Cinema today, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. It is our labor of love and creative adventure, which you can now witness from the safety of your homes."
The film which was released theatrically on April 16 did not see much business owing to the ongoing pandemic, and now the makers have released it on Jio Cinema as well as on Netflix. 99 Songs had the world premiere at the 24th Busan International Film Festival; the film was screened in the Open Cinema category on 9 October 2019. It also features Aditya Seal, Lisa Ray, and Manisha Koirala among others.
