During a presidential debate, US President Donald Trump made a critical remark with reference to India and it sis not go down well with many people. He made a remark about ‘filthy’ air quality in India, and it evoked sharp reactions from people here. Donald Trump described the air in India as ‘filthy’ as he denounced Democratic rival Joe Biden’s plans to tackle climate change. His comment hasn’t gone down well with screenwriter Apurva Asrani, who called out Trump, reminding people of a statement he made about India only 7 months ago.
Ahead of the November 3 US elections, Donald Trump said, “Look at China, how filthy it is. Look at Russia. Look at India. The air is filthy. I walked out of the Paris Accord as we had to take out trillions of dollars and we were treated very unfairly.” While reacting to this, Apurva Asrani called out Donald Trump’s hypocrisy, and while he admitted that air quality in India is poor, he called Donald Trump a ‘liar’ based on another statement he made about India 7 months ago.
Apurva Asrani’s tweet read, “ 7 months ago, he said on Indian soil, that 'India gives hope to humanity'. Today he dismisses India, by calling it 'filthy'. While it is a fact that the air quality here is poor, it is a bigger fact that #Trump is a liar.”Check out the tweet below:

Meanwhile, during the first presidential debate, Donald Trump had raised question on India’s Coronavirus data. He had said, “When you talk about numbers you don't know how many people died in China, you don't know how many people died in Russia, you don't know how many people died in India. They don't exactly give you a straight count."
