Social media is abuzz discussing nepotism in Bollywood. Sushant Singh Rajput's demise has triggered a strong debate on social media on how Bollywood does not acknowledge outsiders. Kangana Ranaut, who has always raised her opinion against nepotism, once again shared her views on how 'Bollywood mafias' operate. Now, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has shared his two cents on the whole debate around nepotism. He is is of an opinion that outsiders today get many more opportunities than 10 years ago.

In an interview with NDTV, Anurag Kashyap spoke about how this debate around nepotism is 10 years late. He stated "Outsiders today get more opportunities today than they got 10 years back. The whole debate is 10 years too late. Social media exists now, it didn't exist then. Today, the audience has the power of validation. The audience can go and empower an outsider by watching his/her films, buying their tickets". He mentioned that people are crazy to get a photograph of Taimur and since childhood, a star image is created.

When asked if big producers like Aditya Chopra and Karan Johar have the power to break anyone's career, the Sacred Games maker said that outsiders are also queuing up outsider YRF and Dharma Productions to bag roles. There are many filmmakers like him and Hansal Mehta who work with newcomers, however, nobody queues up outside their office. He also stated that Karan Johar can launch someone but can't break anyone. He said, "A Karan Johar can make somebody's career... by launching (him/her) in a big film. Because he's not just a filmmaker, he's also a businessman. He understands. But he cannot break anyone."
