Bollywood filmmakers and actors are leaving no stone unturned to do their bit during the time of crisis. Right from donating money to PPE kids, hand gloves and other things, filmmakers are now putting their trophies on auction to raise money for fastest confirmatory test kits, RT-PCR, in India. Comedian Kunal Kamra tweeted about the same and urged fraternity members to auction their awards to raise funds for COVID-19 test kits.
After writer Varun Grover, it’s Anurag Kashyap who has decided to put his Gangs of Wasseypur Filmfare 2013 Award on auction. Kashyap Tweeted, “Highest bidder gets the original trophy for the Filmfare critics award best film 2013. Gangs of Wasseypur.” Kunal Kamra, who auctioned off his YouTube Button for the cause, Tweeted, “While each ruppee counts I appreciate the hell out of Comrade @anuragkashyap72 who is giving away his 2013 gangs of Wasseypur critics award to the highest donor of this charity with my YouTube button I urge other artists to help in their own way!”
Varun Grover, who is Sacred Games writer, comedian, and National Award-winning lyricist, gave up his TOIFA 2016 award for best lyricist for Moh Moh Ke Dhaage from Ayushmann Khurrana-Bhumi Pednekar starrer Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Sharing a picture of his trophy, he wrote that he is giving it for a charity auction. Joking about his retirement plan, he wrote that he had planned on putting up the trophy on eBay in 2050.
