Anurag Kashyap is a fierce and fearless filmmaker. His opinions on political matters are also doled out without an iota of fear. At the screening of Taapsee Pannu’s upcoming film, Thappad, Anurag Kashyap, who directed her in Manmarziyaan, gave his unfiltered opinion about the unrest in Delhi and the massive protests that have broken out in the North East part of the National capital, resulting in 13 deaths, leaving many others seriously injured.
When Kashyap was questioned about the attacks and upheaval in Delhi, he said, "Duniya mai humari aadhi problems solve ho jaayenge agar home minister sorry bol de toh.. kitni problems solve ho jaayenge." His comments were met with a warm applause. This is not the first time Kashyap has voiced his opinion on and protested against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Via debates on national television and through his Twitter feed, he has expressed concern and anger on state of affairs. Meanwhile, he also endorsed Taapsee’s film Thappad, that is getting rave early reviews from critics. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, who also worked with Taapsee in Mulk, the film is slated to release this week (Feb 28).
The film screening that took place in Mumbai on Tuesday night was attended by Taapsee Pannu, Dia Mirza, Anubhav Sinha and Pavail Gulati among others.
Thappad is the story of a husband-wife whose relationship and life comes to a standstill as the husband plants a slap on his wife at an office party, in the midst of colleagues. The fearless lady does not take this lying low and decides to take a stern step including slapping a legal notice on her husband.
