Bollywood actor Anupam Kher often uses his social media platform to air his views on issues of social importance. While he is often seeing praising the government, in a recent interview, he criticized the Centre for the way that it handled the COVID-19 crisis. While speaking to NDTV on Wednesday, he said that the government has slipped somewhere, and that they should be focusing on ‘more than just image-building’.

“Somewhere they have slipped. It is time for them to understand that there is much more to life than just image-building maybe,” said Anupam Kher. He was asked if the government’s effort should have been more in providing relief than managing their image and perception. Anupam Kher said that the government should rise to the occasion and do the thing that they were elected by the people of the country for. “I think the criticism is valid in lots of cases and I think it is important for the government to rise to the occasion and do things that they are chosen by people of this country for,” he said.

Anupam Kher further added that only an inhuman person wouldn’t be affected by reports of bodies found floating in rivers. However, he said that for the opposition party to use it for their gain also isn’t correct.

Meanwhile, many Bollywood celebrities have come forward to contribute and donate in any way that they can, amid the Coronavirus pandemic. Anupam Kher’s foundation has also launched an initiative called Project Heal India, which aims to help those in need of ventilation devices and oxygen concentrators.
