The nepotism fire has always been a huge topic of debate in Bollywood, however, after Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely death, it only added fuel to the fire. Social media users are slamming and bashing the Bollywood bigwigs and star kids left, right and centre. Not only that, but netizens are also claiming that they will boycott them and their movies. With so much going on from the past few weeks, even Padman filmmaker R Balki shared his perspective about nepotism and spoke for Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor. In return, he received a lot of flak from the netizens. However, defending the filmmaker, Anubhav Sinha said that Balki didn't mean to say that Alia and Ranbir are the best actors.
Anubhav Sinha tweeted in R Balki's defense and wrote, "I don't think Balki meant Ranbir and Alia are the best actors right now. They aren't. There is no yardstick to compare two good actors. I think what he meant was that they are both truly deserving stars despite their illustrious pedigree. And I agree with that."
Coming back to Balki's statement, in an interview with Hindustan Times, he was quoted saying, “The question is do they (star kids) have an unfair or bigger advantage? Yes, there are pros and cons. But I’d ask one simple question: Find me a better actor than Alia (Bhatt) or Ranbir (Kapoor), and we’ll argue. It’s unfair on these few people who’re probably some of the finest actors.”
