After Sushant Singh Rajput's tragic demise, the nepotism debate resurfaced and it has now taken an ugly turn on social media. Twitterverse is constantly targeting star kids and some Big Bollywood people as well. As the debate has already picked up momentum, many stars like Hina Khan, Zeeshan Ayyub, Vikrant Massey and more have spoken about nepotism and outsiders Vs insiders debate. Having said that, this time Annu Kapoor too expressed his views on favouritism and hypocrisy and says that these things do exist in the industry.
Hinting at Vidyut Jammwal's tweet who was snubbed by the OTT platform, Kapoor, who plays a pivotal role in his film, Khuda Hafiz, was quoted saying to Hindustan Times, “Favouritism, hypocrisy, corruption has always been an integral part of the Indian society. The film industry is the by-product of this society, so it exists there as well. Expecting a genuine and fair play would be like living in a fool’s paradise. They have money, power, so either you dance to their tunes or not — no argument, no reasoning. We live in a world of diabolic people and at this juncture, they’re only scared of Corona.”
Weighing on the nepotism topic, he also gave examples of Jackky Bhagnani, Harman Baweja and Abhishek Bachchan’s filmy career in the industry, he said, “Son of an architect or doctor can become an architect or a doctor, but if a film star launches his son/daughter in the industry, then why cry nepotism? A father or mother will do their duties by providing their children with support and guidance. How can that be wrong? If nepotism really worked then Vashu Bhagnani’s son, Harry Baweja’s son, Sunny Deol’s son, or even Amitabh Bachchan’s son would have been like Tom Cruise the star, but we all know it’s not factual.”
