Bollywood actor Angad Bedi’s father and legendary spinner, Bishan Singh Bedi left for his heavenly abode on Monday. At the age of 77, he breathed his last leaving behind an inspirational and illustrious career in cricket. According to a report by Times Of India, he had undergone surgery two weeks before he passed away. He was hospitalised in Delhi post-surgery. The Minister of Yout Affairs and Sports, Anurag Thakur, confirmed the news of his passing. 

Apart from his fans and admirers, many Bollywood celebrities and cricket personalities took to social media to mourn the loss of the veteran. He left behind a legacy that will be remembered by the cricket enthusiasts for years to come. Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan to many others, took to their official social media handle to grieve Bedi’s loss and condole his family. 

SRK wrote, “Growing up our lives are moulded by the spirit, the gusto and sheer grace of people who we see and experience around us. Mr. #BishanSinghBedi was one of them. May God bless his soul & thank u Sir for teaching us so much about sports & life. You will be missed immensely. RIP.”

For those who don’t know, his cricketing journey spanned from 1966 to 1979 as he showcased his talents in 67 tests for India and took 266 wickets in his career. Celebrated as a Spin Wizard, he made a mark for himself because of his masterful spin bowling techniques. He even represented India on an international stage. The cricketer is survived by his wife Anju Bedi and son Angad Bedi. 

He had also recently made his Bollywood debut with the film Ghoomer, co-starring Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher. The movie was released on August 19, of this year.
