Here is another feud between the old guards that is
heating up. Tajdar Amrohi, the son of Pakeezah director Kamal Amrohi, was set
to collaborate with Shashilal Nair, the director of the controversial 2002
release, Ek Chottisi Love Story staring Manisha Koirala.
The filmmaker had taken a long break after Ek Chhotisi
Love Story and he was set to return to Bollywood more than decade later.
The film, titled Nagrik, was to be produced by Tajdar Amrohi, starring his son
Mashhoor Amrohi, opposite newcomer actress Esther.

The film was supposed to be Mashhoor’s big Bollywood
launch after an attempt at stardom with forgettable films like Crook: It’s Good To Be
Bad, which starred Emraan Hashmi.Tajdar and Shashilal have been friends for more than
three decades and the collaboration would have cemented their friendship.
Tajdar was set to produce the film with Shashilal in the
director’s seat. But the plans have gone kaput now with both the parties
splitting in an unamicable fashion. The reason, as always, was money.
Shashilal is now claiming that he is both the director
and the producer of the show.
“No. I am the producer & the director how can there
be a fight between me,” Shashilal told SpotboyE.com.
Meanwhile a source in the Amrohi family told us that
Tajdar feels as if he has been stabbed in the back.
“Shashilal started by telling Tajdar that he wants to
produce Nagrik on a 50-50 basis. Tajdar agreed and kept paying the bills till
the amount reached Rs 6 crore. Then Shashilal said that he wants to be the sole
producer. Tajdar just wanted the film to see the light of the day but it is
nowhere near completion,” said the source.
When the questions about money were raised the arguments
quickly turned ugly with the source claiming that Shashilal once threw Tajdar
out of his office.
Nair, who also directed Shah Rukh Khan's film One 2 Ka
Four, had won the National Award for best special effects for his 1993 film
Angaar.
When we asked him when can we expect Nagrik to hit
theatres, he replied, “Only God knows!”
