We were the first to tell you the Bollywood movies that are in the running for India's official entry to the 88th Academy Awards (Bollywood's Race For India's Official Entry To Oscars Begins, August 17).
Now, Amol Palekar has been appointed the Chairman of the jury that will pick India's entry in the Best Foreign Language Film category of the Oscars. The Paheli director will be heading a panel of 17 members.
Come September 17, the jury will begin reviewing the movies in Hyderabad.
The deadline for sending the entry to the Oscars is October 1. Only those films that have been commercially released in India since October 1, 2014, and that ran for at least a week are eligible for nomination -- for an entry fee of Rs. 50, 000
The Academy Awards will be held on February 28, 2016, in Los Angeles.
