Amitabh Bachchan Reads Ramcharitmanas Ahead Of Kalki 2898 AD Release! Says ‘Without Knowing Divinity, There Is No Belief’

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan recently revealed that he has been reading passages from the Ramcharitmanas, an epic poem by Tulsidas, just days before the release of his highly-anticipated film, "Kalki 2898 AD." This film features a star-studded cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan. On late Monday night, Amitabh shared a picture of one of the pages of the Ramcharitmanas on his blog, accompanied by a personal reflection and translation of the verses. Amitabh wrote, “We are in time after ages. and the age of the ages is beginning to get a control .. which is recommended and practised all over .. so the effect of that early bird shall be exercised and the results reverted upon ..” before sharing the picture of the script. He then translated the verses, conveying profound philosophical insights. According to Amitabh’s translation, “Without knowing divinity, there is no belief; without belief, there is no love; and without love, how can there be devotion? Just like the reflected smoothness of water is never still or stagnant, without a guru, there can be no learning; without reclusion and quietude, can there be learning. Amitabh further elaborated with analogies, “Can a boat ever move without being in water? Without the earth, can there be trees that grow? And many more such examples to exemplify the presence and the prayers to the Almighty, the absence of which makes many things impossible.” He concluded with a heartfelt prayer, “I pray for eternal peace and calm. Whoever listens to it, may there be fructification.”

This introspective post comes amid the excitement surrounding "Kalki 2898 AD," set to release on June 27, 2024. In the film, Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Ashwatthama, who will face off against Prabhas’ character, Bhairava. At a recent press conference for the film’s promotion, Amitabh expressed his astonishment at the film's concept. He humorously recounted, “When Nag Ashwin came and explained his idea to me, for a long time after he left I was thinking, ‘what the hell is Nagi drinking?’” This remark left his co-stars, including Rana, in splits. 

Amitabh continued, “To see something like this which is absolutely outrageous, some of the visuals that you have seen are unbelievable. To have somebody conceive a project which is so futuristic and possible… and during the making of the film, you realize that no matter what he thought of, he actually brought all the material, all the effects, every kind of vision that he had to the screen, and that’s been really amazing. For me to be just a part of it has been an experience I’ll never forget.”

The upcoming release of "Kalki 2898 AD" is highly anticipated, not only for its innovative concept and stunning visuals but also for the compelling performances by its talented cast.
