Close to midnight, around 11:52 pm, as I was winding up my day after a heavy-duty screening of Saif Ali Khan starrer Laal Kaptaan and a visit to Nanavati Hospital to check on Amitabh Bachchan’s hospitalisation, I was about to switch on the television when my phone screen flashed, ‘Resul Pookutty calling’.
I could sense that it was a concern call about Mr Bachchan and I was right. The National Award winner (Slumdog Millionaire, Best Sound Designer) called to check if the news about
Amitabh Bachchan being hospitalised, which I had broken a few minutes before his call, is indeed true.
When I told Resul that
Big B is at Nanavati hospital, he expressed his disappointment and said, “Sir was in high spirits when I met him at the KBC set. I was taken aback when I heard the news of him being admitted in the hospital, but then again nothing can beat his inimitable spirit. He will be back in the set in no time. My prayers and love to him and the dear family.”
We then asked Resul if he had an elaborate meet with Bachchan Sr and the BAFTA winner told us, “Our meeting lasted only for 10 minutes but I was there for more than an hour. However, I didn’t go inside the set. It was around 3 pm.”
Resul had also
read my second article, yesterday, on Mr Bachchan, where I had penned a few personal thoughts about the megastar and his aura. Amidst the phone conversation, Pookutty added, “I understand you. I can feel that aura every time with him. I forget things to speak to him. It’s so wired I can’t explain myself, but very few people do that to you in life. He is a phenomenon.”
I and everyone at SpotboyE.com, entire nation included, wishes Amitabh Bachchan a speedy recovery.
