Ayushmann Khurrana is on a roll. After working with Shoojit Sircar in Vicky Donor (2012), the actor is set to collaborate with the filmmaker yet again, and this time it gets bigger as he will share screen space with megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who has earlier worked with Sircar in Piku (2015). Reportedly, the filmmaker is set to bring Big B and the Ayushmann together for yet another quirky comedy. The film is titled as Gulabo Sitabo and will be set in Lucknow.
The Mumbai Mirror report states, “The film, which will see Ayushmann and the Big B share screen space for the first time, is written by Juhi Chaturvedi, who had penned the actors’ previous collaborations with Shoojit, as also the Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu-starrer October. The Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar production goes on the floors next month.”

Confirming the news to Mirror, filmmaker Shoojit said, “Juhi and I have been working on this script for a while now. We all know whenever she comes up with a story, it has her trademark quirk. As soon as I read it, I shared it with Mr Bachchan and Ayushmann at the same time. I thought it would take some time to develop and take it forward, but everyone was so enthusiastic to work on this script, they figured out their dates and here we are, planning to release the film this year itself.”
When Sircar was asked about the origin of the film’s title, he revealed, it’s a spoken term used in Uttar Pradesh. He told tabloid, “Regarding its association with the story… you will have to wait and watch the film to know more.”
Besides Gulabo Sitabo, Ayushmann Khurrana is currently shooting for Amar Kaushik’s Bala with Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam and will also be seen in Aanand L Rai’s Shubh Mangal Zayda Savdhaan. On the other hand, Big B will next be seen in Ayan Mukerji’s Bramhastra co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, while Shoojit is currently shooting for Udham Singh biopic starring Vicky Kaushal.
