Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel has been making the headlines for quite some time now. Having made her Bollywood debut alongside Hrithik Roshan in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai (2000), she became one of the most sought-after actresses of her time. Post the success of the Rakesh Roshan directorial, she went on to star in Sunny Deol starrer Gadar - Ek Prem Katha (2001). While her career came to a standstill, her performances in those movies are till date remembered by the fans.
As she is all set to make her return as Sakina, with Gadar 2: The Katha Continues, she recently recalled the time the 73-year-old director had approached her to star in his son’s debut movie. During her appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, to promote Gadar 2, she was asked about the rumour which stated that Rakesh Roshan had spotted her when she was 14-15 years of age. The 47-year-old actress went on to reveal that she was spotted by the filmmaker. He had approached her parents to cast her in the movie opposite Hrithik. However, her parents weren’t ready. They denied the opportunity as they belonged to a political-business background and she was preparing to go to Boston for further studies. They met again when she had returned to India. Quoted by Bollywood Bubble, the actress shared that their paths crossed during a wedding. She further added, “At first, he couldn’t recognise me and he asked and my family said, ‘This is Ameesha, she just returned from Boston. In two days I had signed Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’s contract and in a week’s time I was shooting.”
Talking about the upcoming movie, it is sequel to the classic Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001). It followed the journey of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) who falls in love with a Pakistani Muslim girl Sakina (Ameesha Patel). After they get married and have a kid (Utkarsh Sharma), Sakina is forced to go to her country by her father, leaving her family. The father-son duo then go to Pakistan to rescue her. The sequel will focus more on the father-son relationship between Sunny and Utkarsh. Set to release on August 11th, 2023, the movie is directed and produced by Anil Sharma.
