Alia Bhatt, who's currently on a promotional spree of her upcoming film Kalank, co-starring Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, and Madhuri Dixit has given a smart reply to Kangana Ranaut's 'embarrassed on being compared to her' comment. During a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, the Raazi actress was asked about the Manikarnika actress calling her work 'mediocre' in Gully Boy.
Alia told the website, “I respect Kangana’s work a lot and I respect her opinion. If she feels a particular way she must have reason to feel that way. I would rather remember how much she had praised me after watching Raazi. And I’d just like to focus on my work. Maybe she will appreciate me again if I work hard enough.”
Kangana's statement had come as a reaction to a poll conducted by Bollywoodlife, which asked fans to vote for their favourite actress. Emerging as the winner of the poll, Bollywoodklife got in touch with the actress to know her reaction-- that was when she had called Alia's work as Safeena I'm Gully Boy 'medoicre.' She had said, “I am embarrassed...What is there to beat in Gully Boy performance ....same snappy muh phat girl... Bollywood’s idea of a fiery girl, woman empowerment and good acting, spare me this embarrassment, please. Media have taken filmy kids love too far. Stop pampering mediocre work or else bar will never be raised.”
Kangana Vs Alia war goes back to the days when the former had called out Bhatt for not coming out in support of her film, Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi. During an event when Alia was asked about Kangana constantly criticizing her, she had said, "I have an opinion but I'll keep it to myself." Well, finally the opinion is out and it is smart!
