Mahesh Bhatt received calls from an unidentified man threatening to kill Alia and Soni Razdan a few days ago and demanded Rs 50 lakh from the filmmaker.
Alia Bhatt has reacted to the reports of her father, Mahesh Bhatt, being threatened by Sandeep Sahu.
Asked whether she was scared upon receiving the threats, Alia said, "I will call my dad and the police brave. They didn't give me a chance to get worried at all. They took over completely. I am happy that everything has been sorted out now finally, and everyone is safe and happy."
Speaking about her father, she said, "Parents do everything to protect their children from any harm. So, with my dad being by my side, there was no way for me to get scared."
Getting back to the case, Sandeep Sahu, who was arrested by the Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh Police, had demanded for Rs 50 lakh from Bhatt, else he would kill Alia and Soni Razdan.
Mahesh announced the news this morning via a tweet.

Reportedly, Bhatt received a threat call on February 26. Initially he assumed it was a prank, but then he also received a SMS text and WhatsApp messages from the caller who claimed to be a gang leader. "If you fail to do so, I will fire several rounds of bullets in your daughter Alia and wife Soni," he threatened. He had asked Bhatt to deposit the money in a Lucknow-based bank branch.
Mahesh filed a case at the Juhu police station on Wednesday. It was reported that the case was registered under section 387 (causing a person to fear death or grievous hurt, in order to commit extortion).

After the FIR, Mumbai police beefed up the entire family’s security.
Mahesh has received threat calls earlier as well. Reportedly, a few years ago over 13 people, who plotted to kill the Bhatt family, were arrested. The gangster who schemed this had directed the shooters to kill Bhatt, and if they did not get him, kill Mukesh Bhatt or Rahul Bhatt.
However, Mahesh has always put up a brave front towards such dhamkis. At that time, the filmmaker was promoting his film Khamoshiyan (2015) and when he was asked about these calls, he had said, "I'm promoting ‘Khamoshiyan' on the front foot. I can't stop living because of this death threat. If I did, that would mean that the terrorist has won."
We salute bravery. Salaam Bhatts!
