After several actors and producers filing a case against several news channels, Akshay Kumar filed a defamation case against YouTuber named Rashid Siddiquee. The actor accused the YouTuber of spreading false news and dragging his name in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case. As per the reports, YouTuber Rashid in his videos claimed that Akshay Kumar helped Rhea Chakraborty in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case. However, the actor later filed a defamation case worth Rs 500 crore against the YouTuber for maligning his image.
Now, as per reports, the YouTuber has responded to Akshay's case through advocate J P Jayswal. He has refused to pay Rs 500 crore and even asked the actor to retract his defamation case. If not, he has threatened a legal case against him. As per the report in The Indian Express, the YouTuber has called Akshay Kumar's claims "false, vexatious and oppressive and is raised with an intent to harass him”.
Further in the response, the lawyer has stated, "The news reported by Siddiquee was already in the public domain and he (Siddiquee) has placed reliance on other news channels as sources." Rashid and his lawyer in the response have also called Rs 500 crore in defamation, 'absurd'. "The damages of Rs 500 crore are absurd and unwarranted and are made with the intent to pressurise Siddiquee," said the lawyer.
Reports state that the YouTuber has claimed that he will launch appropriate 'legal proceedings' if Akshay Kumar does not take back his defamation case.
