Thanks to the lockdown, no Bollywood film is able to make it to the theatres. The work on the production of all the films has stopped. Some of the films that were ready too couldn't make it to the theatres. Now, filmmakers are considering the digital release of their films as an alternate solution. Amitabh Bachchan and Asyuhmann Khurrana's Gulabo Sitabo is soon to have a digital premiere. Now, it is being reported that Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani's Laxmmi Bomb too will have a digital release on Hotstar.
As per a report in Pinkvilla, Akshay's Laxmmi Bomb film has been sold for a whopping amount for its digital release. A trade analyst confirmed the news and was quoted saying, "It's true that the film will now be premiering on Hot Star. Although there was a bit of disagreement initially, everyone is on the same page now. The movie will indeed be releasing online." The analyst further revealed that some production work is still pending for Laxmmi Bomb, hence it won't release in the next month.
The report also gives the figure at which the digital rights of this film have been sold. He stated, "Usually digital rights of a big film get sold at record prices of Rs 60-70 crore max. But since this film won't have a theatrical release and will be straightaway sold to digital, they have fetched a huge price. Laxmmi Bomb has been sold for a staggering Rs 125 crore. But while the number is huge considering digital rates, what one must not forget is that it had the potential of earning over 200 crore at the box office, despite a clash with Salman Khan's Radhe. So the total revenue that the team will make out of it, is much less."
We await an official announcement from Laxmmi Bomb team. (Also Read: Pad Man Star Akshay Kumar Backs Menstrual Hygiene; To Provide Sanitary Pads To Female Daily Wage Workers Affected By Lockdown)
