The fuss and concern about the release of Sooryavanshi and '83 have been making noise for a long time now. Along with the moviegoers, even the producers and distributors were eagerly waiting to release these two mega films as soon as possible. Sooryavanshi and '83 were initially scheduled to hit the big screens in March and April of 2020 respectively, but thanks to the novel Coronavirus pandemic, the release date got affected. Despite that, the makers did not opt for digital space when most of the makers were choosing the OTT platform. However, with the reopening of theatres, the makers are leaving no stones unturned to give a proper boost to both the films.
According to the latest reports in India Today, Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif starrer Sooryavanshi and Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh starrer '83 to release in the first quarter of 2021. Earlier, Kabir Khan's directorial venture was supposed to hit the big screens this Christmas but the makers had to change the decision as they were unable to set up the marketing campaign for the same. Shibasish Sarkar, CEO of Reliance Entertainment, told Mumbai Mirror, "Christmas is no longer a possibility as we won’t be able to set up a marketing campaign within a month. Also, the overseas markets are important for both films and some of them have shut again due to the second wave of Covid."
After the plans of releasing Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starrer '83 on Christmas was dropped, the makers of Rani Mukerji and Saif Ali Khan starrer Bunty Aur Babli 2 were eyeing for the festive slot.
Reportedly, the makers are planning to release Bunty Aur Babli 2 this Christmas, thinking it would be an ideal festival outing.
