Even before Pad Man hit silver screens, Akshay Kumar began shooting for Kesari. A while ago Akshay Kumar posted a picture on Twitter with a few kids from the sets of Kesari.
He captioned the snap, “Innocent smiles galore on set today! Shooting with these lovely children playing Afghani kids in #Kesari based on the Battle Of Saragarhi, one of the bravest battles fought in India.”

A few days ago, Akshay released his look from the film where he is seen donning a saffron turban. He captioned the snap, “Feeling nothing but immense pride and gratitude while sharing this. Beginning my 2018 with #KESARI, my most ambitious film and a lot of passion. Need your best wishes as always. @dharmamovies @iAmAzure @SinghAnurag79.”

He will essay the role of Havildar Ishar Singh in the film.
Talking about Kesari, the film had its fair share of
controversies. Kesari was said to be a joint venture between Salman Khan Films
and Dharma Productions. However, Salman backed out, and that's when Akshay came
on-board as the co-producer. SpotboyE.com told you that Akshay Kumar hired
Salman Khan’s ex-manager Reshma Shetty, which didn’t go down well with him
thus, he opted out of Kesari. Interestingly, the battle of Saragarhi has been a bone of
contention between Akshay, Ajay Devgn and Randeep Hooda with all three wanting
to make a film on the same subject.
Coming back to Kesari, directed by Anurag Singh, the film will hit
theatres on Holi 2019.
