Ajay Devgn recently announced that he will play Chanakya in a film that will be directed by Neeraj Pandey. The movie will be based on 4th century BC, scholar, advisor, economist and political strategist Chanakya. Now, a well-placed source informs us that the film will be made in two parts, like the Baahubali franchise. Well, that sounds interesting right?!

Earlier, Ajay had made the announcement on social media by tweeting, “Looking forward to playing #Chanakya, a film about one of the greatest thinkers in Indian History, directed by @neerajpofficial @RelianceEnt @FFW_Official @PlanC_Studios @ShitalBhatiaFFW.”

In a statement, the actor had said, "I am truly looking forward to playing Chanakya. I have observed Neeraj Pandey’s work closely and I know Neeraj will tell this story with the clarity and passion that it needs to be told."

The director had further said, “I have been developing this film on Chanakya for some time now. It is an exciting work of passion for me, and I am sure audiences will love Ajay’s portrayal of the visionary genius.”

Ajay was last seen in the film De De Pyaar De alongside Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh. Next, he will be seen in Bhuj: The Pride of India. His character is based on Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, who was in charge of the Bhuj airbase during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, which remained operational despite heavy bombing from Pakistan.

Then, he will also play the titular role in Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior that also stars Saif Ali Khan. And of course, Chanakya with Neeraj Pandey.
