SpotboyE broke the story that Varun Dhawan was on the verge of signing a Rs 180-crore deal with Star Network for six films.

However, Salman Khan's manager who also manages Varun,
Reshma Shetty played spoilsport. She questioned Star officials how they could pay Salman only Rs 20 crore more than Varun. After all, Sallu is a much bigger star than the Badlapur actor – Salman’s films register more eyeballs upon its airing on the channel, the most recent case being Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Not just that, they even bring in more advertisement revenue. Reshma told the channel officials in no uncertain terms that she would work out Varun’s deal if and only if Salman’s price is hiked (Has Salman ruined Varun's Rs 180-cr deal?, Mar 16).

The deal has gone further downhill.

A few days ago, Star connected with Team Varun and told them that they would like to sign up 10 films with Varun for Rs 300 crore. Naturally, the actor's joy knew no bounds, we guess. But this time Star threw a spanner.

Star officials categorically told Varun that the deal would involve his multi-starrer films too.

This sent Varun into a tizzy. He told Star that he can't take guarantee that the producers of those multi-starrers would agree to selling their film for Rs 30 crore only. "He could only give a guarantee of his solo films, for he knew that his producers would gladly take Rs 30 crore on his film blindfolded. But how can he guarantee on a film which stars him and Shah Rukh Khan/Akshay Kumar/John Abraham too? A multi-starrer of him and SRK/Akshay would definitely be sold for far above Rs 30 crore," says a source close to the development.

Let's see what happens next. Watch this space.
