In October 2018, Aashiq Banaya Aapne actress Tanushree Dutta filed a complaint against Nana Patekar for sexually abusing her and misbehaving with her during the shoot of Horn Ok Pleassss in 2008. As Tanushree Dutta revisited her ordeal, little did she know that she would be the reason behind the start of the #MeToo movement in India. Ever since she came in open about the sexual conduct, the #MeToo movement started trending and hit the country like a big tsunami. Though the actress has filed an FIR against Nana, the police officials haven’t found any evidence regarding the same that certainly, has disappointed Dutta. So much so, the police officials have filed B summary in her case.
For those who are unaware about B summary context, it means when the police do not find any evidence to file a charge sheet against the guilty, a B Summary report is filed before the court. Well, in Dutta's case, her lawyer Nitin Satpute filed her `protest petition' before a metropolitan magistrate's court in Andheri. In the petition, the names who supported Dutta’s case were mentioned by her advocate, however, they were not called to the police station. According to India Today, the petition states, "Shyney Shetty, Assistant Director of film HORN OK Please was called to the police station for the investigation purpose. Police had recorded her statement partly, told her to leave the police station as they do not have time to complete her statement, due to bandobast. Thereafter IO (investigating officer) has not taken any pain to recall and complete her statement."
Unhappy about the clean chit verdict on Nana, Tanushree further urged the court to hand over the investigation to the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police. ALSO READ: Tanushree Dutta On Nana Patekar Getting Clean Chit From Cops: “God’s Justice Will Rain On You Someday”
