Aditya Chopra and Dibakar Banerjee's last collaboration Detective Byomkesh Bakshy ! bit the dust. The duo have a new crisis in their fold now.
The CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) has demanded at least 20 cuts in their upcoming film Titli, which has made the rounds of many festivals till date.
Last evening, Yash Raj officials were seen walking out from the Examining Committee screening with long faces after the CBFC came down heavily on the film--- as it contains a very high number expletives.
SpotboyE.com has it that the production house staff in question did not even have a dialogue with the CBFC after the verdict was given.
A source says, "If the Examining Committee suggests cuts, the film's team which is present at the screening always informs if they would be interested in taking the cuts or proceeding to the Revising Committee. This was one special case where nobody from the production house spoke about their next line of action. They just kept ranting amomgst themselves that their film would be excessively diluted if they took the proposed cuts. And then suddenly, they all left in a huff."
Adds the source, "The film is full of foul language. YRF and Dibakar have a fight on their hands."
The directorial debut of Kanu Behl, Titli is the first of a multiple-title co-production pact between YRF and Dibakar via his indie banner Dibakar Banerjee Productions. Set in the badlands of Delhi, The film revolves around its title character, the youngest member of a violent car-jacking brotherhood, who plots a desperate bid to escape his family business.Ranvir Shorey, Amit Sial and newcomer Shashank Arora head the cast.
