Ahead of the release of their film Adipurush, director Om Raut and Kriti Sanon are facing huge backlash over their goodbye kiss at Tirupati temple. The two got embroiled in a controversy after they Om Raut was seen kissing Sanon on her cheek at the temple. Now, actress Dipika Chikhlia, who played the role of Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s television series Ramayan, has reacted to the uproar and condemned Kriti saying today's actresses just consider it a role as after the film is over, they don't care anymore.
Speaking with Aaj Tak, Dipika mentioned that back then when she had played Sita people would come and touch their feet. They all couldn’t even hug anyone, kissing is beyond the question. The actress was quoted as saying, “When we were in character on the set, people would come and touch our feet. That was a different time. People did not think of us as actors, they thought of us as gods. We couldn’t even hug anyone, kissing is beyond the question. After the release of Adipurush, the actors will get busy with their next project and will forget about their characters but this never happened with us.” ALSO READ: Adipurush Director Om Raut KISSES Kriti Sanon At Tirupati Temple; BJP Minister Lashes Out At Him, Says, ‘It Is Disrespectful And Unacceptable’
Further slamming Kriti, Dipika stated “Kriti is an actor of today’s generation and in today’s time, kissing and hugging is seen as a sweet gesture. She never thought of herself as Sita.” She went on to explain that Adipurush actors will move ahead with other projects after the release of the project and may forget their characters. But such a thing never happened to them as they used to be treated like gods. Thus, they all never did anything that would hurt people's sentiments.
