Adipurush director Om Raut has been facing flak on social media ever since his video of kissing Kriti Sanon at Tirupati temple went viral. The clip raised many eyebrows as it showed the filmmaker planting a goodbye kiss on the actress’ cheek as she leaves in her car. Many political leaders, religious groups and even netizens have slammed Om Raut for his PDA at the temple. Condemning the act, Ramesh Naidu Nagothu, the BJP State Secretary in Andhra Pradesh and the head priest of Telangana's Chilkur Balaji Temple have lashed out at Raut.

Soon after the video showing Raut kissing Kriti at the temple surfaced online, netizens expressed their anger and accused the filmmaker of hurting religious sentiments. Reacting to the video, one angry user commented, “besharam log mandir koi jaga hai PDA karne ki.” Another said, “Forgot about the location wheather temple or church or mosque ...Is that kiss necessary? A third user wrote, “This is so cheap.” ALSO READ: Adipurush Director Om Raut KISSES Kriti Sanon At Tirupati Temple; BJP Minister Lashes Out At Him, Says, ‘It Is Disrespectful And Unacceptable’

In a now-deleted tweet, the BJP minister wrote, “Is it really necessary to bring your antics to a sacred place? Engage in public displays of affection, like kissing and hugging in front of the Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirumala is deemed disrespectful and unacceptable.” Calling the video condemnable, Chilkur Balaji Temple Head Priest said, “Even a husband and wife do not go there (to the temple) together. You can go to a hotel room and do it. Your behaviour is like insulting Ramayan and Goddess Sita.”

Meanwhile, the upcoming film Adipurush’s final trailer was released at a pre-release event at Sri Venkateswara University Stadium in Tirupati in the presence of Prabhas and Kriti. While Prabhas will be seen essaying the role of Lord Ram, Sanon plays his wife Janaki. Saif Ali Khan is portraying the role of Lankesh and Sunny Singh will be seen as Lakshmana. The mythological drama is slated to hit the theatres on June 16, 2023.
