Over the years, Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry with his versatile performances. Despite hailing from one of the most influential families, he didn’t let the weight of being a ‘product of nepotism’ weigh him down. He carved his path professionally and his journey wasn’t so easy. The actor recently opened up about the same during an actor’s roundtable conversation.
In the Galatta Plus Mega Hindi Roundtable 2023, alongside other actors, Abhishek recalled the time when his family was facing financial troubles, so much so that they couldn’t afford to buy new clothes. The 47-year-old recalled how he had attended a prestigious award function, 20 years ago, wearing an old sherwani that he had worn during his older sister Shweta Bachchan Nanda’s wedding. Shedding light on the matter he explained that in those days actors used to plan their outfits months in advance as they had to buy it themselves, since “nobody was giving away free clothes in those days.”

The Ghoomer actor further stated that despite wanting to wear formal clothes to the event, he didn’t own any formal, and showing up to an award show in jeans and a t-shirt “would be prudent.” Which is why, he decided to re-wear the sherwani he had worn during his sister’s wedding a couple of years ago. Shedding light on the tough days he experienced, he shared that he had to leave his education and fly back to be with his father Amitabh Bachchan, after the veteran actor’s business failed miserably. He decided to stay beside his family and work towards making a name for himself in Bollywood.
On the work front, Abhishek Bachchan has a few projects in his pipeline including The Big Bull, based on another financial scam, and SSS7, which is produced by him as well. He also has a Remo D’Souza directorial, co-starring Nora Fatehi, and a Shoojit Sircar directorial.
