The actor, who is a torch-bearer of Masoom Education -- an organisation that strives to establish quality education in night schools -- donated bags to Class VIII students at Agarkar and BVM-Worli branches.
Aashish's fans, who are part of his Twitter family (he calls them #Twamily), also pitched in with funds to buy the bags and a laptop.
While speaking to the students, he said, "We are not the real heroes, you are. Despite facing all kinds of hardships, you work during the day and attend school at night. Only education can help you rise in life. Study hard and people like us are always there to help you."
The children, who were delighted to spot a star amidst them, thronged Aashish for selfies.
Nikita Ketkar, CEO of Masoom Education, says, "We are really thankful to all the donors and Ashish, who have been working continuously to help our students."
We are touched.
