Commonwealth Games gold medalist, wrestler Babita Phogat, was subjected to intense trolling and criticism for communalizing Nizamuddin meet in Delhi, in her latest Tweet. The wrestler faced the wrath of Twitterati following which she decided to delete the tweet. A spike in Coronavirus cases was witnessed after a meet was held by the Tablighi Jamaat, earlier this month. Many, who attended it, have tested positive for COVID-19. Last night, Babita took to Twitter and posted a cryptic tweet which was directed at the incident.
In her Tweet she wrote, “At your place it might have spread through bats, in India it spread through illiterate pigs.” She used the hashtag #NizamuddinIdiots in her post. Soon after her Tweet, she was slammed for giving the Corinavirus spread a communal twist. A section of Twitterati also pointed out that she’s targeted Aamir Khan’s community, who made her a household name.
However, she deleted the tweet and has now issued a clarification. She wrote, “Doctor, Police, Nurse jo iss sankat ke samay desh ki dhal banker khade hain un par hamla karne walo ko aur kya sangya doon. Ismein mera kisi dharma jaati vishesh ke khilaf likhne ka koi maqsad nahi hai. Maine iss tweet main sirf Corona senaaniyon par hamalaavaron ke khilaf likha hai aura age bhi likhti rahungi." (What else should I call those who attack doctors, police, nurses who stand in the solidarity with the nation in the time of crisis. I have no motive to write against any particular caste, I wrote that tweet only on the Corona fighters. I have written against the attackers and will keep writing even further.)
