Raghuvir Yadav who essayed the role of Bhura in Aamir Khan's film Lagaan is in the news because of his personal life. His estranged wife of 32 years has filed for divorce in Bandra Family Court. Reportedly, Poornima, his wife has demanded Rs 10 crore in alimony and interim maintenance of Rs 1 lakh. Poornima has accused Raghuvir of adultery and desertion. Poornima is 60-year-old while Raghuvir has turned 70. Both of them together have a 30-year-old son.
As per reports, Poornima was an international Kathak dancer before she married Raghuvir, however, she gave up on her profession to support her then struggling-actor husband. They tied the knot in the year in 1988, however, the lady moved out and started living separately from the year 1995 accusing Raghuvir of adultery and infidelity. An excerpt from the petition read, "The petitioner(Purnima) states that it is the Respondents(Raghuvir) aforesaid conduct and behaviour, his act of cheating and living in an adulterous relationship which has created a marital discord and is therefore guilty of treating the petitioner(Purnima) cruelly. Under these circumstances, the Petitioner submits that he is entitled to a Decree of Divorce u/s 13(1)0) and 130-a) of the Hindu Marriage Act," as reported by Hindustan Times.
Reportedly, in the year 1995, Poornima had caught Raghuvir cheating on her with one of his co-stars. Then the man had filed for a divorce, however, he withdrew it later.
Raghuvir has been a part of many big films including Rajkummar-starrer Newton which was India's official entry to Oscars.
