Having tasted immense success with his last biographical sports drama, Dangal, Aamir Khan is all set to revive another real life story on-screen– this time he will relive the journey of the first Indian into space, Rakesh Sharma. The film was titled Salute.

However, according to Filmfare, the megastar is no longer a part of this project. Sources told the magazine that Aamir has reportedly opted out of Salute and will no longer be a part of the star cast. Buzz is that the makers have already started scouting looking out for a new face for the actor.

Aamir Khan was approached for the Kishore Kumar biopic around the same time. Reportedly, he was torn between the two projects. It looks like he has made up his mind that he will not be a part of Rakesh Sharma biopic.Earlier this year, it was rumoured that Priyanka Chopra could play the role of Aamir Khan’s wife in the film. However, there was no confirmation about the same.

Talking about Rakesh Sharma, the astronaut had a glorious life which can be beautifully put on celluloid. On April 2, 1984, the Soviet rocket Soyuz T-11 blasted off into space with the ship's commander Yury Malyshev, flight engineer Gennadi Strekalov, and the first Indian to fly into space, Rakesh Sharma. The trio spent 7 days, 21 hours and 40 minutes aboard the Salyut 7 Orbital Station conducting scientific and technical studies, including 43 experimental sessions.

Coming back to the story, this piece of news must have disappointed many Aamir Khan fans.
