Whatever Aamir Khan does, generates interest. After his record-breaking PK, the superstar announced that his next will be Dangal and soon, all eyes were on the project.
The Nitesh Tiwari-directed film is the story of former wrestler Mahavir Singh from Haryana, who coached his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari to historic wins in wrestling. Geeta became India’s first female wrestler to win gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and Babita won the silver.
While Aamir started bulking up for the role of Mahavir, there was much speculation about who will play his daughters.
Kangana Ranaut was believed to be the top contender, with Taapsee Pannus name also doing the rounds. However, the coveted roles have been bagged by Fatima Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra.
Mumbai-girl Fatima has acted in a few films and the TV serial, Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo. Meanwhile, Delhi-girl Sanya is a trained ballet dancer. Turns out, Aamir, who is also producing the movie, was instrumental in casting these girls for the roles.
