India celebrates its 78th Independence Day on August 15th. The country has progressed a lot ever since receiving independence in 1947. Over the years, many films were made on Indian war heroes that protected the coutry because of their fearless attitude and love for their nation. On the occasion of India’s 78th Independence Day, let us take a look at Bollywood actors who have essayed to role of Indian Army officials in their respective films.

Sidharth Malhotra: The actor had left everyone impressed with his performance as Vikram Batra in Vishnuvardhan directorial Shershaah (2021). Released on Prime Video, h was showered with love and admiration for his acting. His wife, Kiara Advani, essayed the role of Dimple Cheema in the film.


Janhvi Kapoor: Sridevi’s daughter essayed the role of an Indian Air Force pilot, Gunjan Saxena in the film Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020). The film was released on Netflix and Janhvi was praised for her fierce acting in the biographical movie. For those who don’t know, the Sharan Sharma directorial was based on the life Gunjan Saxena, a 1999 Kargil War veteran who became the first woman pilot to fly in a combat zone. 


Hrithik Roshan: While talking about films that tell the story of Indian war heroes, how can one forget to mention Hrithi Roshan starrer Lakshya. The Indian coming-of-age war drama directed by Farhan Akhtar, the film is loosely based on the 1999 Kargil War. Depicting the life of Karan Shergill, who finds his calling after he joins the Indian Army, has inspired many people.


Ajay Devgn: The actor will soon be making a return to the big screens as the fearless police official Singham. Over the years, in his career, Devgn has also been a part of many war films. He left the audiences impressed with his performance in LOC: Kargil and Tango Charlie. 

Abhishek Bachchan: One of the most versatile actors of the Hindi entertainment industry, Abhishek Bachchan essayed the role of Captian Vikram Batra in the film LOC: Kargil based on the 1999 Kargil War.
