Jiah Khan

News of Jiah Khan's death sent shock waves in the industry. The 25-year-old actress was found hanging from her ceiling fan at her Juhu residence on June 3, 2013. A six-page suicide note was found by her sister indicating that she planned to end her life. However, her then-boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi was arrested on charges of abetment of suicide. While the case is still under investigation, Jiah's mother Rabia Khan blames the Hero actor for her death.

Jiah had caught everyone's attention with her debut in Ram Gopal Varma's Nishabd, where she was paired opposite Amitabh Bachchan and was later seen in successful films like Ghajini and Housefull.

Shikha Joshi

On May 16, 2015, actress Shikha Joshi of B.A. Pass fame committed suicide by slitting her throat with a kitchen knife. Her friend Pushpa Parmar even recorded a video on her phone where the 40-year-old actress blamed Dr. Vijay Sharma and "many married men" for her tragic end.

Shikha's 19-year-old daughter alleged that she committed suicide because of Dr. Sharma, who had reportedly "sexually exploited" her in 2011. The doctor went missing since her death and was found by the Mumbai Police only on May 20. It was also reported that Shikha was depressed owing to the lack of acting offers and hence, had taken such a drastic step.

Parveen Babi

Parveen Babi was found dead in her apartment on January 20, 2005. Post mortem reports showed that there were no traces of food in her stomach for more than three days and as a consequence, she may have starved to death.

One of the most successful actresses of the 70s, Parveen was often in news for her volatile personal life - she was linked to Mahesh Bhatt, Kabir Bedi and Danny Denzongpa. Things took a turn for worse when she was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. The first Indian actress to grace the cover of Time magazine, she had become a recluse in her later years and a mere shadow of the on-screen diva.

Divya Bharti

All of 19, Divya Bharti met a tragic end on April 5, 1993, when she fell off the balcony of her fifth floor apartment in Versova, Mumbai. Given the mysterious circumstances of her death, several conspiracy theories floated around including drugs and involvement of the underworld. The police closed the case in 1998 without giving any clarity on the subject.

The actress gave several hits like Deewana, Shola Aur Shabnam and Vishwatma before her career was abruptly cut short.

Silk Smitha

Vijayalakshmi Vadlapati, more popularly known as Silk Smitha, was found dead at her apartment in Chennai on September 23, 1996.

Silk shot to fame as the sex siren of the southern film industry in the early 80s. Despite her professional highs, her personal life was believed to be plagued with problems. Her alcohol dependency, failed romances and financial problems were believed to be the reasons behind her death.
