The year 2019, for the Indian film industry, has been a mixed one; be in terms of performances, box-office numbers or the commercial/artistic cinema. But it, in no way, means that we went deprived of some highly-spectacular performances by our actors. The year started with a bang with Vicky Kaushal’s URI: The Surgical Strike and is expected to end with the same hysteria, as we have some biggies lined up. But, before that, here’s a roundup of some stellar performances by our male actors that took Bollywood by storm with their impressive acts.

1 – Ranveer Singh (Gully Boy)

Gully Boy saw Ranveer Singh stepping into the shoes of an aspiring rapper named Murad, who hails from the slums of Mumbai but aims to reach above the sky. The actor not only got into the skin of his character with utmost sincerity and dedication but also presented one impactful act of an underdog. Right from his accent to physical appearance and body language; Singh aced in all the departments.

2 – Shahid Kapoor (Kabir Singh)

Talk about a bang-on transformation! Shahid Kapoor’s portrayal of an imperfect lover named Kabir Singh got him massive appraises, despite all the criticism and negativity this film faced due to its misogynistic plot. The actor underwent a drastic change in so many aspects and his efforts didn’t go in vain. If it hadn’t been for Shahid Kapoor, we don’t think Kabir Singh would have gained such immense popularity.

3 – Vicky Kaushal (URI: The Surgical Strike)

URI: The Surgical Strike chronicled Indian Army’s surgical strike that took place in the year 2016. While the patriotic factor worked big time for this film, one just can’t miss the spectacular performance by Vicky Kaushal, who had gotten into the soul of his character. Vicky Kaushal’s portrayal of Major Vihaan Singh Shergill showed us the importance of nationalism and sacrifice, hence making him among one the bests in this criterion.

4 – Hrithik Roshan (Super 30, WAR)

Super 30 marked Hrithik Roshan’s comeback to the silver screens after almost two years and, let us tell you, he didn’t disappoint. The film was based on the life a mathematician named Anand Kumar and Hrithik Roshan did full justice to his character in all the aspects. Now, moving on to WAR, it showed the actor in an opposite avatar – the hottest one and, here as well, he didn’t let us down. Right from a perfectly-chiseled physique to some power-packed action scenes, Roshan surely set the big screens on fire. So, let’s give the credit where it’s due!

5 – Ayushmann Khurrana (Bala, Dream Girl)

Ayushmann Khurrana never ceases to amaze us and, guess, the actor has made it a point to own every year by delivering a remarkable performance or two. In 2019, the actor had three releases and all of them managed to strike the perfect chord. Right from his portrayal of a man suffering from premature balding in Bala to his raunchy avatar of a woman in Dream Girl; Khurrana has been every bit impressive.

What do you think, who among these was the best?
