Following the sad demise of musician and composer Wajid Khan in the beginning of this week, came news of yet another personality from the music industry breathing his last. Veteran lyricist Anwar Sagar left for heavenly abode on Wednesday. Almost 70, he is survived by his wife and two children, confirmed Syed Ahmad, singer and Indian Performing Right Society Limited’s (IPRS) board member. As per reports in PTI he was suffering from heart ailment and passed away after a cardiac arrest.
The late lyricist had penned songs in 1980s and 1990s for the movies such as Salaami, Vijaypath, Aa Gale Lag Jaa and many more. The song Waada Raha Sanam from the movie Khiladi featuring Akshay Kumar and Ayesha Jhulka released in the year 1992 was quite popular. The news of his death was confirmed on the official twitter account of IPRS, their tweet read, “Veteran lyricist and IPRS member Anwar Sagar has passed away. Known for writing songs like 'Vaadaa Raha Sanam', he also penned lyrics for iconic movies like #Vijaypath & #Yaraana. Our thoughts & prayers are with his family in this difficult time. May his soul #RIP.”
As reported in IndiaTV, his friend Syed Ahmad said, “His death is definitely an irreparable loss to the film industry.”
