Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel has been making the headlines for all the wrong reasons. From sharing a spoiler about Gadar 2, her alleged claims of mismanagement by the filmmaker of the movie to surrendering in a cheque bouncing case, the actress has been facing the wrath of the netizens for the past few weeks. Now she has yet again put her foot in her mouth by claiming that the audience wants to watch ‘clean cinema’ as the content on ‘OTT is full of homosexuality’.

During the promotions of Gadar 2, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama made shocking homophobic comments that has left the netizens fuming. Talking about how the era where a child could sit and watch cinema with their grandparents is missing, she claimed that OTT doesn’t offer such things. Quoted by Indian Express, she added, “Because OTT is full of, homosexuality, gay-lesbianism… Scenes that you have to cover your kids’ eyes or actually put a child lock on your television so they can’t access those platforms. Netizens have taken to social media to bash the 47-year-old for her problematic mindset. While many called her out, others claimed that today’s content is teaching kids about gender identity early on which is very necessary. One wrote, “Bollywood has always been progressive in homosexuality. Statements like this show how homophobic are you? Kids must be taught of gender identity and alternative sexuality. Talking about the upcoming movie, it is sequel to the classic Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001). It followed the journey of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) who falls in love with a Pakistani Muslim girl Sakina (Ameesha Patel). After they get married and have a kid (Utkarsh Sharma), Sakina is forced to go to her country by her father, leaving her family. The father-son duo then go to Pakistan to rescue her. The sequel will focus more on the father-son relationship between Sunny and Utkarsh. Set to release on August 11th, 2023, the movie is directed and produced by Anil Sharma.
