Vidhu Vinod Chopra is not a very happy man at the moment. The ace filmmaker is miffed with reports claiming that Sonam Kapoor was not the first choice for his film, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, and that she was cast on Anil Kapoor’s recommendation. It was Taapsee Pannu who was initially doing the film.
With this news spreading like wildfire, Vidhu has released a statement defying the news and said that he has never met Taapsee Pannu ever in his life. “This is to address all the media reports that have been floating around in the media about Taapsee Pannu being the offered Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. I am the producer of the film and I have never met her in my life. Sonam was the first person cast in the film even before Anil Kapoor. This clarification is a matter of principle. Articles like this undermine the movie making process and are making a mockery out of a film that means a lot to us and the whole lgbtqi community,” said Vidhu Vinod Chopra in his statement.

Well, that should set the record straight! Talking about the film, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, it was based on a homosexual love story where Sonam played a lesbian. The film was got lukewarm response from the mass and critics alike. At the box-office too, it didn’t set the cash registers ringing too loud. Top it all, it got embroiled in MeToo controversy when Raju Hirani’s name, as a co-producer, was pulled out from the credits and posters of the film, as the director still stands accused of sexual misconduct.
