Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee’s upcoming film ‘Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai’ has been marred in controversies ever since its trailer released. Self-proclaimed godman Asaram Bapu’s charitable trust and followers took offence to the movie being inspired by real-life events and proceeded to appeal to the court to prohibit its screening. For the unversed, the movie showcases a minor girl’s fight for justice after she was sexually harassed by a powerful self-proclaimed Godman. Talking about the same during a recent interaction the actor explained how the followers should watch the movie first.

Talking to Rajat Sharma on Aap Ki Adalat, Manoj shared how people should watch the movie before making an opinion about it, as it “will change your opinion.” When asked what would happen if a boycott trend starts against the movie, taking it in a positive stride, the actor said that it would be a good move since “zyada lok aayenge dekhne ke liye.” ALSO READ: Manoj Bajpayee Reacts To Asaram Bapu’s Legal Notice Against Him And The Makers Of ‘Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai’: ‘Have To Be Truthful To Those Incidents’


The actor went on to also comment on the legal notice the makers of the movie were sent by the charitable trust of the godman, who is currently serving life imprisonment, for damaging their client’s reputation and good name. The 54-year-old actor expressed how even he is clueless as to why they have filed a case since they haven’t named anyone in the movie. He went on to stress on the fact that people should watch the movie as it is one of his best films. Directed by Apoorv Singh Kharki, the courtroom drama will be streamed on Zee5 on May 23, 2023. 

On the work front, Manoj Bajpayee was last seen in the Rahul V Chittella directorial Gulmohar which is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. He has courtroom drama Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, Kanu Bahl's Despatch and the third season of Raj and DK’s web-series The Family Man in his pipeline.
